Here Comes End of Year!
2024 has been a fabtastic year for us at Holladay Photography—a year filled with bold adventures, creative experiments, and plenty of twizzler-fueled photo shoots. From the beauty of snow-covered fields at Roselle Park and vibrant flowers at Meijer Gardens to the architectural wonders of Grand Rapids, Montreal, and Quebec City, every moment we captured reminded us why we love what we do.
We also got a little wild this year with light painting, transforming everyday scenes into something straight out of a dream. Spending late nights with the Ada Photo Club, armed with a camera, a tripod, and some colorful lights, led to some of our most exciting creations yet.
So, whether you’re here for the landscapes, the cityscapes, or just to see how creative a camera and some light can get, we hope you’ll enjoy this look back at our favorite landscape and nature photos of the year. Grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and let’s dive into the best of 2024.

Nature, Snow, and Flowers
This year, we embraced the tranquility and simplicity of nature, from the soft, untouched snow drifts forming natural sculptures at Roselle Park to the delicate beauty of vibrant flowers in full bloom at Meijer Garden Orchid Show. Then there’s the spider, its intricate web glowing with light, reminding us of the beauty in unexpected places inside the Ada Covered Bridge. Together, these photos showcase the magic of looking closer and appreciating the world around us.
Architecture of Grand Rapids, Montreal, and Quebec City
This year, I took my 4-year-old daughter on our first big trip together. Grand Rapids offered a mix of modern lines and historic charm, while Montreal and Quebec City transported us to a different era with their old-world architecture and cobblestone streets. Seeing these places through her eyes made the experience even more special.
Color and Light Painting
Pushing creativity and vision is always a goal each year. This year, Holladay Photography began creating digital art that incorporated in-camera techniques, light painting, and Photoshop magic. The focus remained on keeping the real captured photos as the center of attention, ensuring that the digital era did not encroach too much, but rather served as a tool to bring the vision to life. This exploration of light reinforced the idea that photography is not just about documenting what is seen—it’s about creating what is imagined.
We visited our favorite spots in Whitecaps Stadium for fireworks, Ada Covered Birdge and the alway stunning Meijer Garden.
2024 has been a year of bold creativity and diverse inspiration. From the quiet beauty of snow and flowers to the architectural elegance of cities and the imaginative artistry of light painting, every photograph has been a journey into the extraordinary.
